Cercle in Sport/Footballmagazine: "Cercle wants to grow into the biggest European talent platform"

Today in Sport/Voetbalmagazine: an extensive interview with Carlos Aviña, who became technical director at Cercle early this season. Journalist Frédéric Vanheule talked about Cercle's rejuvenation strategy and how objective data show that Cercle gives young players chances.

'After OGC Nice, we play with the youngest team of eight European top leagues. Our analysis included the first national leagues of Germany, England, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal. If this trend continues, there is even a chance that we will finish first'

Cercle wants to continue along the path of rejuvenation. A good combination of experienced players, complemented by the best young talents, should provide the ideal mix for sporting success. There is also an important role reserved for the youth work of Cercle. Cercle wants to focus more on the through-flow of youth players, after having successfully launched their own youth in recent seasons with Decostere, Vanhoutte, Somers, Deman, Dekuyper and Cassaert. "After Anderlecht, Standard and KV Oostende we are the fourth of the eighteen 1A-clubs that play U23-Belgians from our own education. This should always be part of our philosophy," said Carlos Aviña.
