Cercle Brugge have reached an agreement with Edgaras Utkus for a contract extension with the Groen-Zwart. The versatile defender, currently recovering from a knee injury, has re-signed through June 2026.
Edgaras Utkus extends with Cercle through 2026!
Edgaras Utkus joined from AS Monaco in the summer of 2021, along with Boris Popovic. The Lithuanian international impressed during his debut season, scoring three times in total. This season has started with more difficulty for Edgaras: during the preseason he badly injured his knee. Those injury worries are now almost over, but Cercle will be ready to count on Utkus, especially next season. “I am very grateful to be able to extend my contract with Cercle,” said Utkus. “Because of my injury I was hardly able to show what I can do this season, so I'm really looking forward to next year. I am happy that everything is going well and that I am getting fit again. I feel myself getting stronger day after day and that is the best hope for the future,” said the Lithuanian.

Sporting director Carlos Aviña: “It is fantastic news for Cercle that Edgaras is extending for another three years. The story of Utkus is an example of the successful collaboration between AS Monaco and Cercle Brugge. Unfortunately for Edgaras he was badly injured this season, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. In the past he has already proven to be valuable for Cercle in every position: as a centre back, as a defensive midfielder and even as a number ten. Next season he will be a strong part of the Cercle squad.”
