Cercle Brugge and the German top flight club SC Freiburg have reached an agreement regarding a loan for Hugo Siquet (20). The Belgian international right back (8 caps) has joined until the end of this season, with an option for an additional season.
Hugo Siquet joins Cercle Brugge!
Hugo Siquet was trained at Standard Liège and made his debut in the first team there in 2020. He played 43 times in total for the Rouches. Siquet made an impression in Liège in just a short time, earning him the title of best Jupiler Pro League newcomer in 2021 as part of the Raymond Goethals awards. In January 2022, a transfer to Freiburg, currently ranked second in Germany, followed, seeing Siquet feature in the Europa League as he had with Standard.

“I have chosen to return to Belgium and to the Jupiler Pro League, a competition that I know very well and that I appreciate. Moreover, I am very happy to be able to sign for Cercle Brugge, a very warm and ambitious team. I can't wait to be on the pitch," said Siquet on joining the club.

Sporting director Carlos Avina: “I am very happy that Hugo has chosen Cercle. He fits perfectly within our mentality here: young, hardworking and ambitious. Despite great interest in Hugo from home and abroad, he chose Cercle because of our clear style of play and our never give up mentality. He will be an absolute asset to our team. Welcome Hugo!”
Hugo Siquet is the cousin of ex-Cercle player Thierry Siquet (54). In the period between 1991-1997, Thierry, like Hugo, a defender, played a total of 151 times for Cercle.
Hugo Siquet has chosen to wear the number 41 at Cercle. Welcome, Hugo!
